Leading a Thai life~~

Chatuchauk weekend market
Took the BTS from Phrom Phong station to Mo Chit station and the market is just below the platform. I didn't know which station to alight at but the staff at the BTS station counter kindly helped me with that. It's a bit further with about 5-7 stops and costs 42thb but the train is pretty fast so it took about 10minutes.

Everything is so cheap there! They have a lot of stuff going for 150thb or 200thb! I didn't even have to haggle! Most of the shopkeepers were pretty willing to lower the prices for a little as well, especially if i wanted to buy more than one item. The only downside was that it was super super hot and stuffy with the crowd, i kept wanting to get drinks! Didn't grab as much small bites as i intended to. :/

40-50thb

Union mall
Took a tuktuk to Union mall because we're lazy to walk back to the train station. Since Union mall is only one train stop away, figured a tuktuk would be pretty cheap too. Don't get cheated! Some of the tuktuk drivers quote ridiculous prices because they know we're tourists, like 300thb to go from Chatuchauk to Union mall! Ridiculous! The train ride would have cost less than 20thb! Was only willing to pay 50thb actually, but the driver refused because it was the time where traffic was pretty bad and so, we got a ride for 70thb.

Got my crepe with my favourite toppings, banana~! HAHA All my wraps or crepes, i always order banana. LOL Never get sick of it! Never ever! :P Can't remember how much it cost. The bubble tea is not bad too, just that it's really really sweet. But it's probably because we couldn't communicate what we want as well. Language barrier. Don't know how much this costs as well, but probably less than 100thb.

Most of the people kept speaking Thai to me and i just nod my head, as though i can understand what they're saying, but in fact, i really have no idea. Probably something about welcome to my shop, please feel free to look around, *points to new arrivals* explains to me those are new, and when i touch a certain piece of clothing *points to other colours that are also available*. And i think i kind of get what they want to say when they point. Usually i prefer to not say anything so they won't immediately know that I'm not local and quote me a very high price. :X But i think it's pretty obvious though that I'm not local! LOL Most of the clothes are around 200-400thb, with some of the shopkeepers willing to lower the price for you by a little.

And did my nails! Those are duckies by the way. The manicurist has good skills! The details were pretty good, for 400thb! And she was quite fast as well, took about 30-45minutes!

And because i shopped till most of the shops are closed, what's left for dinner was KFC or A&W. Got KFC! No idea how much the meal was. :/

Guess we weren't filling very full or satisfied, so we got egg prata on the way back to the hotel! Only 30-40thb! It's soooo yummy with the carnation milk on it! I realised that there are alot of Thai food with carnation milk in it. Oh, and there are alot of street food along the road from Asok BTS to Citrus 22.

Went back to the hotel to enjoy a bubble bath soak with beer and maggie mee. I ate sooo much! Fatty! HAHA :D Brought my mask along too so my skin can relax after a tiring day of shopping. HAHA~

Okay, that's it. Continue next time.

Went for brunch at Bistro Du Vin.
The 3 course meal is pretty cheap for french food though not very savoury. An appetiser, a main course, dessert and tea. The place was a tad noisy with too much chatter. Ordered ravioli with foie gras, confit de canard, tea, chocolate tarte tartin or something, quiche with broccoli and bacon☻ and creme brulee☻.

Attended The Royal Dance Off for the first time
I was very inspired by the male soloists. Their strength is amazing, and the quality of their movements. When it was strong, it hit enough, when it was soft, it flowed. Though most of the choreography were rather similar, but they really push me to want to be better. The female soloists were okay, only a few caught my eye. The group items were so-so as well. Totally in love with the 2 groups of trios. They were all in sync with each other and their movements were really clean with strong and good technique. ☻

Dinner before that. Sushi!
Haven't seen this girl for months and now she's back from the US~☻
Nori, rice, chicken floss, honey yuzu, prawns, tamago, mushroom, pickled cucumber, something and roast beef.
Nori, brown rice, teriyaki, tamago, mushroom, soft shell crab, avocado, and not sure what else are in there.

Favourite Astons before i fly off~

 Kay bye~

Leading a Thai life~

Finally it's my turn to go on a holiday! :D
I feel like a true Thai now after travelling around Bangkok on my own and not taking cabs, except once the last day because our luggage was heavy and it's a 10minutes walk to the BTS or metro station. Heehee~ Even though i was there for 5 days, it still seems pretty short to me. Went to Chinatown, Platinum, Terminal 21, Central world, Chatuchauk weekend market, Union mall and the tiger temple. Couldn't find the time to go for a massage was the only thing short on my list of to-do. But overall i had fun! :D

Stayed at Citrus 22 Sukhumvit.
From the Suvarnabhumi airport, we took the city train line to Makkassan station for about 50thb if i remember correctly and took around 20minutes, walked for about 100-200m to take the metro at Phetchaburi and alighted at Sukhumvit for 17thb and took a few minutes, before walking about 300-400m to our hotel. BTS stations Asok or Phrom Phong would have been a bit closer but not much of a difference and it was a chore to change to another train.

I love the hotel! It looks pretty small and it's abit dodgy with the pubs downstairs and "massage parlours" nearby, but the room is pretty good. Especially the toilet. Toilets matter alot to me! It has to look clean and feels "clean"! There were no insect problems throughout the 5 days that i stayed there, compared to my last Bangkok trip! The room was clean and made up everyday without any problem, some toiletries were provided, and replenished everyday. Though there were 2 days where the hot water became warm than hot and the water from the shower head was a bit less powerful, but not much of a problem because I'm just someone who has to shower with quite warm water. :P

The hotel has a cosy lounge area, a small variety for a buffet breakfast and dining area, but still look modern and clean. The best of all is that there's wifi! :D And the wifi isn't slow at all! :D I'm not sure if the wifi is provided for all guests or it was because of the deal we got. Deal was that we paid 3 nights instead of 4 nights, free upgrade to a grand superior room, buffet breakfast included everyday, wifi included and some others which doesn't really matter to me. Lol. The pool wasn't super clean but i didn't swim in it anyway, it was good enough for suntanning or just enjoying the jacuzzi-like thing massaging my back in the water. Also, there was a storage room to keep our luggage before our flight for free so we can shop hands free! :D

Each person is about S$171 and each night would be about S$42. There might be other cheaper hotels, but for me, this is pretty cheap and good with no significant problems. More info here... www.citrus22bangkok.com/

Getting around
Terminal 21
Walked to Terminal 21 which is just above sukhumvit metro station and across the bridge from Asok BTS station. Bought Mille macaroons! The rum and raisin macaroon is my favourite! ☻ Love the butterscotch caramel too! ☻ And the green tea! ☻ Only tried 3 though. Maybe alllll of them taste good too! But I'll never know now. Lols. And this Hokkaido Belgium chocolate milk. Tastes like this chocolate milk in a glass bottle with a cow logo i can buy from 7-11. Lols.

Headed to Chinatown at Khao San road.
Took a tuk tuk from Terminal 21 and cost 200thb. There was a slight traffic jam but still got there pretty fast. Think it could be even cheaper but it's okay. Ate at this seafood place which is quite popular with two stalls fighting for customers opposite each other. It's pretty obvious. While eating, this businessman who is from Vietnam and is currently working in Thailand talked to us. Realised from him that there are no train stations nearby. I'm not sure about the buses, but i guess the only way i know how to get there is by cab or tuktuk and, a tuktuk will be more fun, with the wind blowing in my face. Haha~

Ordered grilled prawns, sharks fin soup, egg omelette with oysters, morning glory and salted fish. Each dish costs between 150-300thb.

Went on to grab some sago and cantaloupe with milk chilled dessert because the weather was pretty warm and bought some mango sticky rice back to our hotel room. It was only the first day but we felt like fatties already. Hahaha~ Oh! And the fruits look SO super juicy and sweet but i didn't buy any because i was too full. :<

Wonton mee, platinum mall, central world mall
Took the BTS from Asok to Chitlom which took about 5-10minutes,costing 28thb. After exiting from the train station and walking straight ahead on the overhead bridge and pass Gaysorn mall, we can see Central world mall. It kinda felt like Takashimaya to us. Lol. Got a little lost there trying to find this wonton mee stall and we walked quite a bit, probably about 15minutes or 20.

After turning right at the end of the bridge to central world, walking straight all the way to the end of the mall and turn left, there's this motorcycle service. Wanted to try it but too bad, I'm a girl and it seems a little dangerous if i were to ride on it alone since they can't ride with more than 1 passenger. Anyways, walking pass the motorcycle and along food stalls, and then the bridge with a small canal or river, we reach novotel and platinum! YAY~! SO FAR. It feels even further when we're tired. Walking pass platinum mall, we went up the overhead bridge and continue walking ahead. The wonton mee stall is in the alley between Shibuya19 and Glow Pratunam hotel. It closes at 4pm! So we were lucky we went to eat before starting shopping at Platinum. I'm in loooove. Ate the wonton mee and pig trotters. SO FULL. And i found A&W at the mall beside platinum! I miss root beer float! :D

After eating, the shopping begins. After shopping on the first level, i got tired already. :/ Tired of walking, tired of having to look at so many clothes in such a short time, tired of haggling prices and walking away after seeing something i like but which cost more than what i am willing to pay. :< So tired that i just want to sit down. Went for a tea break and ate phad thai, mango sticky rice, banana crepe☻ and ice milk tea. The Thai ice tea is soooo good at the food court! Totally different from the Thai ice tea at the basement. It's thicker and sweeter, though with alot more ice. Lols.

Continued shopping till almost all the shops were closed. It's so much easier to haggle when they're closing. And most of them offer me the wholesale price straightaway. I guess they're tired too. HAHA~ Well, so am i, and wallet. Lol.

Headed to Central world mall and grabbed food at this cute little cosy cafe. Ordered northern noodles with beef or something and char grilled beef with sticky rice. I thought the noodles tasted like Laksa and the beef tasted like "Bakwa". LOL Skipped desserts because the cakes were left in the open and bought my ALL time favourite Blizzard from Dairy Queen!!!!! ☻☻☻ I get super happy eating it. I only order the blizzard ice cream from Dairy Queen because i like how they they my ice cream upside down and it doesn't come off. LOL It's like... AHHH..MAYYYY...ZINGGGG! HAHA~

That's it for Bangkok now, till the next post.

Typing this post out earlier so I'll be in Aus already by the time this is up. Lol. Gotta pack my luggage for Aussie now. I'm so short of time! It's been 5 days and i have yet to unpack my luggage from Bangkok. I've been dancing almost the whole day since i got back, for days. Finally caught a breather yesterday before my day continues with plan after plan today and tomorrow... And i have to apply for Visa, find clothes that can keep me warm and research on places to go. Soooo busy! Feels so stress when I'm suppose to be chilling~ :<

 Okay bye~☻
